1. Who we are
Malta Sailing Charter operates private yacht charters from Pontoon A, Roland Marina, Ta' Xbiex, Malta. For anything on this page, we are the data controller: we decide what is collected and why. You can reach us at info@maltasailingcharter.com or on +356 7904 8499.
2. What we collect
We keep the data deliberately small. There are three places it comes from.
If you make a booking enquiry
The booking form asks for your name, email address, phone number, number of guests, the dates and charter type you want, whether you have sailed with us before, dietary requirements, how you heard about us, and anything else you choose to add in the notes field. We also record what you select in the availability calendar so the conversation starts from a real date rather than a blank one.
If you send us a message
The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, and your message. That is all.
If you join the sailing notes list
Just your email address.
Reading the website
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records which pages you open, roughly where you are in the world, what device and browser you use, and how you arrived. It does not record who you are, and it does not follow you onto other websites. The cookie declaration below sets out the detail.
We do not sell data, rent mailing lists, or share your details with advertisers. We do not run remarketing or lookalike audiences. If a booking is confirmed we pass your name, contact details and dates to Checkfront, our booking system, and to the catering team if you order lunch or dinner — they cannot sail without knowing who is coming.
3. Why we are allowed to
GDPR gives two lawful routes, and we use the first one for almost everything: consent. You tick a box, or click accept, and that is the record. It has to be a real choice, which is why the cookie banner defaults to no rather than to yes.
Where you have asked us for a quote or made a booking, we also rely on contract — we cannot enter into a charter with you without knowing who you are and how to reach you. Marketing email only goes out with consent, and every message carries a way to stop.
4. Where your data goes
Stays in Malta and the European Economic Area, with three processors that we have checked:
- Checkfront — takes bookings and processes deposits.
- Google — analytics, only if you accepted, and Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation and a 14-month retention window.
- Our email host — carries our replies to you.
None of these are used to build advertising profiles about you, and none are used to make automated decisions with legal effect.
5. How long we keep it
Enquiries that did not become bookings: 24 months, so we can pick up a conversation from last season without starting cold. Confirmed bookings and the invoices attached to them: 10 years, because Maltese and EU accounting law requires it. Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we do not email you again by accident.
6. Your rights
You can ask us, at no charge, to:
- give you a copy of what we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, where we are not legally required to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive it in a portable format.
Email info@maltasailingcharter.com and we will deal with it within 30 days. There is no form to fill in. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Malta Authority for Data Protection.
7. Cookie declaration
What a cookie is
A small file a site asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. They are how sites remember you between pages. They are also how they follow you across the wider web, which is why they need your agreement.

Third parties you may meet
Payments are handled by Revolut and PayPal in their own windows, and by them under their own cookie policies — ours cannot set anything there. Embedding TripAdvisor, Instagram, Facebook or Vimeo content would let those services read your IP address; this site links out to them instead of embedding them, so nothing is loaded from them until you choose to go.
How to change your mind
Clear your browser storage for this site and the banner will appear again on your next visit. Or just email us and we will treat your silence on marketing as a no.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially we will update this page and, for anything significant, say so on the site. The version in force is always the one you are reading.
